Notes | | | Just a few weeks after TD's spring tour in Europe, the band issued a recording of their concert in Zabrze (former: Hindenburg) in Poland on April 23rd, at the Dome Muziki i Tanca. The CD, released on TD's own TDI label, features the complete second set of the show as "untouched" recording with no polishing and no sound editing or additions. It features live versions of music material entirely from the nineties; the corresponding original versions are featured on the following albums: |

|
| | | The title Tournado is a play on words, taken from "Tour" and the stormy "Tornado". The official street day of this release was scheduled for September 29th -- being TD's 30th anniversary! Though Edgar and Jerome Froese refused to even think about all celebrations, anniversary events and other specialities because of the "supermarket commercial mentality" these events often are accompanied by, TD did "something special to their fans" in releasing this album on this very day. Nevertheless, a small number of copies had been available before by mail order. TD's first announcement however was to sell the CDs after the concerts in Athens and Thessaloniki (Greece) and in Kassel (Germany) during the "documenta X" art exhibition in June 1997, but this idea of a "tour only" pre-release sale of the CD failed because these three shows had been cancelled. |
| | | With Tournado, TD released another live album performed in Poland, 14 years after their famous Warsaw concert featured on the Poland recording. "The concert hall had the best acoustics for electronic sounds of all venues TD played during their tour -- some good reason for a band which always counts on music and sound in the first place. Also you will hear a very enthusiastic crowd which did help to build the typical TD concert atmosphere", TD explained. |

Re-Releases |
| | | In 1998 the CD was re-released in the Dream Dice box with a slightly different cover artwork and a totally different booklet. |
| | | The CD was re-released in 2004 with new artwork as a single CD and as part of the boxed sets High Voltage and Lamb With Radar Eyes. |
| | | In March 2009 the album was re-released with different cover design as part of an extensive digipack series (consisting of a total of more than 60 CD and DVD releases) by the Germany based Membran record label. |

Tournado - Edition J |
| | | In September 2020, Jerome Froese released a new version of this album, now titled Tournado - Edition J as download only, thus no physical media of this release do exist so far. The digital cover artwork does not show any artist name, though the download was released under the moniker 'Jerome Froese & Tangerine Dream'. The 'Edition J' includes the albums listed below: |
| | |
|
| | | This release includes all tracks of the original version, plus four previously unreleased bonus tracks recorded throughout the 1997 European tour (namely in Brussels, Bonn and Munich). All tracks have been remastered in 2020 from the original DAT tapes. |
