Notes

In 2004 Ground Liftaz re-released the tracks of all three maxi singles by TDJ Rome -- Serenely Confident, Freeze Framez (both 2000) and Vermond Curry (2001) -- on one CD, together with two additional tracks by Ethereal 77 (aka Ulrich Schnauss). None of the tracks had been previously available on CD.

This compilation album was made available for the first time at Tangerine Dream's Purgatorio concert in London on March 6th, 2004 and was then released worldwide via the TDI web shop in the following week. In 2007 it became avalable as download via JF's online shop Cybersounds.

20th Anniversary Special Edition

In June 2024, Jerome Froese released a new version of this album, now titled Unpleasant Poems - 20th Anniversary Special Edition as download only, thus no physical media of this release do exist so far. The digital cover artwork still does not show any artist name, though the download was released under the moniker 'Jerome Froese aka TDJ Rome'.

Jerome Froese about the download release:"The initial release of this compilation featuring Drum & Bass and Big Beat tracks, which I produced under my pseudonym TDJ Rome, is now 20 years old. Many of you know that I played this sound as a DJ from 2000 to 2004 in some of Berlin's renowned clubs such as WMF, Pfefferberg, Rosi's, Glasshaus, Kulturbrauerei, and others. Since the mid-90s, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Breakbeat, and Big Beat have fascinated me, and they still do.

For those who want to take a trip back in time to a musical world where we still produced with samplers that had only 64MB of RAM, shamelessly used sampling CDs, and early versions of voice pitching, this release is a must. This wild mix of Lo-Fi sounds and uncompromising approach will surely captivate once again."

This release includes the original six tracks by Jerome Froese but omits the two tracks by Ulrich Schnauss for licensing reasons. On the other hand it features four bonus tracks of similar style. One of them, Scent 99, had been available for free on SoundCloud since 2013, while the remaining three tracks have been previously unreleased. All tracks have been remastered in 2024.
