In October 2017 Tangerine Dream performed twice (that is, on two consecutive nights) on the E-Live Festival in The Netherlands. Both gigs featured completely different set lists, including one improvised session each. The Sessions II now features these two sessions on a double CD, running more than 45 minutes each.

This album continues Tangerine Dream's 'Session' series that so far consists of:

Tangerine Dream are very much enjoying their new, respectively revived concept of performing an improvised session at the end of their concerts.
