In August 2021 Tangerine Dream had performed live on two occasions in Poland. The Sessions VIII, released almost exactly two years later, presents material from the improvised sessions of both concerts, but unlike other releases, not as complete sessions as they were performed. Instead parts from both session have been combined and arranged to form some kind of 'virtual' session.

Michał Łapaj from the Polish progressive rock band Riverside performed as special guest during one of the sessions and hence got composer and performer credits on this album.

This album continues Tangerine Dream's 'Session' series that so far consists of:

The Eastgate Music Shop about the CD release"This live session was recorded during their performance at the United Arts Festival in Gdansk and at Progresja Summer Stage in Warsaw in August 2021. The session is a special one, as it consists of a montage of the two live sessions from Gdansk and Warsaw -- let yourself be surprised!
