Notes

The Angel Of The West Window, based on a novel by Gustav Meyrink, is the second release of the Eastgate's Sonic Poems Series. So far, this series consists of the following albums:

Similar to the first release of this series, the album features six compositions by Edgar Froese and three by Thorsten Quaeschning. Notably, the namesake composition The Angel Of The West Window, that was featured on the album Booster III two years ago, is not part of this concept album.

The 4-page booklet contains liner notes (a somewhat extended and more esoteric version of the release notes printed below on this page), a short curriculum vitae of Gustav Meyrink, credits and the track listing.

While the official download version featured the correct title from begin, there was a grammatical error on the booklet, backside insert and disc of the initial CD version, giving the album the title The Angel From The West Window. Soon after a re-issue of the album was released that has the typo corrected; the title on the sleeve of this version now comes in gold foil, compared to the yellow printing of the initial release. While performing credits are missing in the booklet of the first edition, the re-issue now states: "Composers have played all Instruments on their individual tracks except on Song 1, 3 & 9: Violin played by Hoshiko Yamane".

The Eastgate Music Shop about the CD release"The Angel Of The West Window is a novel written in 1927 by Gustav Meyrink (original German title: Der Engel vom westlichen Fenster) steeped in alchemical, hermetic, occult and mystical imagery and ideas interweaving the life of Elizabethan Magus Dr John Dee with that of a fictional modern descendant, Baron Mueller. Highly complex, often confusing but also highly atmospheric, The Angel Of The West Window could be described as an occult thriller, mixing melodrama and elements of higher spiritual elements with exploration of some of the deepest occult and esoteric mysteries of the human soul. The last novel Meyrink wrote before he died. The Angel Of The West Window, it is regarded as, if not his most famous work (a claim usually made for his novel The Golem), certainly his most ambitious and multi-layered.
Tangerine Dream has set the atmosphere as well as the deeper meaning of this novel into an unforgettable soundscape. This is the second POEM soundtrack out of Tangerine Dream's special series -- EASTGATE'S SONIC POEM SERIES -- recently successfully started with E.A. Poe's The Island Of The Fay. Enjoy this new creation of adventurous music!!"
