Notes

"Eternity is a long time, especially towards the end."
- Woody Allen

Before leaving for their tour of Japan in June 1983, Tangerine Dream played a concert to commemorate the death of Rainer Werner Fassbinder. They played on June 11th at the Alte Oper (the Old Opera House) in Frankfurt, Germany. A prolific director, writer and actor, Fassbinder had been one of the most controversial German filmmakers. The concert lasted only about 35 minutes and is featured on Tangerine Tree Volume 5: Frankfurt 1983 in completeness as an audience recording of good sound quality. It consists of alternative versions of compositions that have been released on the live albums Logos Live (1982) and Poland (1984), plus one track from Edgar Froese's solo soundtrack album Kamikaze 1989 (1982), here in an embellished version with an additional harplike voice. Fassbinder was main actor in the movie Edgar Froese wrote this track for, thus this was a well-fitting finale for this memorial concert. It has never again been performed live by Tangerine Dream.

The track listing above shows the titles and track lengths of a re-indexed version and the revised artwork by Leah Cim. The track listing as printed on the original cover is as follows:
  1. Fassbinder Memorial Concert 35:16

This release made the bootleg Fassbinder Memorial Concert obsolete, which was released on vinyl only and left out the last few minutes of the concert.

In 2004, all material of this volume has been made officially available through the release of The Bootleg Box Set Vol. 2.

For other concerts released as part of this fan project, please refer to the Chronological Concert Listing.

As with all releases of the Tangerine Tree project, this release is made by fans for fans. It must not be sold but is to be traded freely.
