During May and June 2014 Tangerine Dream toured throughout Europe, performing in France, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Poland and Italy. This Phaedra Farewell Tour was documented with a 3-CD set in August 2014, aptly titled Phaedra Farewell Tour - The Concerts. Unlike previous live recordings of recent years, this album does not feature material from a single performance, but was compiled from various gigs, even including the concerts in Copenhagen and the Caribbean Sea which were officially part of the tour but featured a completely different set list.
Compiling material from different concerts was made rather easy since on this tour Tangerine Dream did no longer play any bridges connecting the individual compositions -- each title had a defined beginning and end, giving the audience the opportunity to applaude. Anyway, discs one and two represent both the complete main sets played on each concert througout the tour. The third disc features a number of encores and -- according to the booklet -- stage rehearsal recordings. There is no information regarding the recording place of the individual tracks, the booklet only tells "This music selection has been compiled from various concerts in Copenhagen, Carribean Islands, Paris, London, Munich, Nuremberg, Berlin, Cologne, Vienna, Warsaw & Turin." But this is just the almost complete listing of the tour venues, leaving out only three dates.
The three CDs come in a folded cardboard digipack with a special oversize 74 page booklet that features numerous photos from the tour. The first 300 orders of the CD set received an autographed booklet.
A short time after its CD release this album became available as MP3 download at the Tangerine Dream Download Shop as well.
