Notes

The soundtrack for Strange Behavior was recorded back in 1981 by Tangerine Dream, at that time consisting of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Johannes Schmoelling. It was one of the first in a long series of soundtracks that line-up would record during the next five years. Some of them, namely Thief (1981), Wavelength (1983), Risky Business, Firestarter, Flashpoint (all 1984), Heartbreakers (1985) and Legend (1986) were released at that time. Others have been left unreleased so far (including Forbidden, Streethawk, Vision Quest and Red Heat, to name a few).

Some other soundtracks saw an official release decades later, like The Soldier (1982, released 2020) and The Keep (1983, released 1997). At time of writing the most recent of the latter group is Strange Behavior which got its first official release in April 2023.

Given the album's musical contents it is not that surprising that Tangerine Dream (or any record company) did not consider to make it available in 1981. With the exception of Romance Theme, a simple yet effective tune mainly performed on acoustic guitar, most tracks consist of atonal, atmospheric soundscapes which might fit very well to the visuals of the horror movie but hardly make an enjoyable listening. Anyway, from a collector's view, it is nice to see an official release.

The album was released in two different versions -- one as released on vinyl by Terror Visions, another on CD by BSX records. The latter release was made available as download as well. Both versions differ not only in their artwork but in the track listing as well; most, but not all, track names appear on both versions, though in different order and with differing running times. At time of writing no accurate list of differences of the musical contents has yet been created.
