Notes

Another movie TD supplied the music score for in 1987, was the horror thriller Near Dark (German title: Die Nacht hat ihren Preis) directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The soundtrack albums released in the USA and UK featured a totally different cover artwork. In Brazil the album was released with the subtitle 'Quando chega a escuridao'.

Kathryn Bigelow in the Near Dark DVD audio commentary: "Tangerine Dream did the soundtrack, and I was really pleased with what they came up with. I went to Berlin and spent several weeks there with them, working on the soundtrack, and I just think there was a provocative, haunting, mercurial quality that just permeated everything that they did, and gave it a patina, gave the film a patina that really transformed it."

Re-Releases

25 years after its initial release the album was re-released in 2013 as a limited edition of 2,000 units with remastered sound and new liner notes by Randall D. Larson. This version was then re-released as digital download in November 2020.
