Notes

Iter Meum (Latin for Journey Of Mine), released in summer 2022 has been the first proper solo album by Johannes Schmoelling since Diary Of A Common Thread (2017) -- though he had not been lazy at all throughout these five years, releasing no less than five albums in collaboration with several artists of electronic music.

The album features eight new compositions, part of them based on motifs of older compositions and played on his original equipment he used during his time with Tangerine Dream. The album comes in a digipack with a 16-page booklet, including liner notes (see below), credits and multiple photos of Schmoelling's various studios and eletronic equipment ranging from 1982 to 2021.

Liner notes by Johannes Schmoelling"[...] To have been part of Tangerine Dream as a composer and a producer from 1980 to 1985 and to have witnessed at first hand this ground-breaking era in the history of electronic music, I feel a responsibility and an obligation to return to the origins and bring to life once again the original sounds and compositional principles of this music.
Iter Meum should therefore be seen as an authentic sound document of this era that was of such importance, also reaching out to young listeners who may not be so familiar with the history of electronic music. [...]
The years from 1980 until 1985 saw the transition from analogue to digital sound technologies. It is precisely this historical juncture that Iter Meum reflects.
Some of the tracks on the album are musical motifs as 'citations' from those years, newly composed, showcased in their interaction and recorded on my historical instruments. So I do not wish to deny their origin. On the contrary: they belong to me. They are mine.
'meum', 'Iter Meum'."
