|On October 26th, 1974 Tangerine Dream started an extensive UK tour to promote their most recent album Phaedra. The autumn tour consisted of no less than 20 gigs during the next six weeks, but unfortunately only less than a handful of bootleg recordings from this tour are known to exist. Thus it was a great surprise to find a professional recording of the opening concert of that very tour in the Virgin archives while researching material for the In Search Of Hades box set. The recording of the concert -- which was completely improvised and hence consisted of unique music material -- had been done by the Manor Mobile studio, but then left unreleased and archived in the Virgin vaults where it was found almost 44 years later.|
The four parts of the gig (plus a witty introduction by the late John Peel) were then mixed from the original multi-track master tapes by Ben Wiseman and Mark Powell in September 2018 and released as part of In Search Of Hades in June 2019, there spanning over two CDs.
Like most of the other previously unreleased material, this concert was available only as part of that box set, so no individual physical release does exist so far. Anyway, the material was made available for digital download and there featured unique digital artwork as displayed above (which, by the way, shows the wrong date of the concert).
