Sound Of A Shell

The liner notes of Views From A Red Train about this composition: "The composer bought two of those big shells in a small tourist shop on one of the canary islands. He then went down to the oceanside and put the both of them close to the ears like a set of headphones. What a terrific experience. There were whole melody lines, echoed rhythms and filtered harmonies including crescendos, decrescendos, strange noises etc. -- Even if you would record those sounds it wouldn't be the same. So the laptop did help to create a human filtered soundscape composition out of an unknown master of nature."
